FRISCO, Texas - UT Arlington guard Marquez Haynes has been named the Southland Conference men's basketball player of the week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Haynes led the Mavericks to a pair of wins against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Northwestern State, averaging 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. The senior from Irving, Texas (Irving), who made the game-winning shot with 4.3 seconds remaining to lift the Mavericks to an 81-80 victory over Northwestern State, finished with 32 points. He scored 21 in the second half to help erase an eight-point deficit late in the game. He began the week by leading the Mavs in scoring with a game-high 20 points in a 71-66 overtime victory over A&M-Corpus Christi. He finished the week shooting 53.1 percent from the field, 43 percent from 3-point range and 71 percent from the free-throw line. Haynes, who is averaging 24.7 points per game to rank third in the nation in scoring, was previously recognized as the conference player of the week Dec. 7, Dec. 28 and Jan. 18.

Honorable mention this week goes to Lamar forward Justin Nabors, Sam Houston State center Gilberto Clavell and Central Arkansas guard Mitch Rueter. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland men's basketball sports information directors.

Each school's SID nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
