Central Arkansas Totals 13 Firsts at Home Meet
CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Central Arkansas notched nine first place finishes on the women's side and four on the men's side at Saturday's UCA Open at the Bill Stephens Track Complex. The women broke three school records and the men set one new mark.
Sophomore Tanesha Maxwell of Tampa, Fla., took two sprint titles, winning both the 100 (11.87) _ the second-best time in school history _ and 200 meters in a school-record 24.44. Junior Jasmine Ellis from Nashville was another two-time winner, taking the 100 meter hurdles (14.25) and the javelin (37.0 meters), the No. 2 mark in school history.
UCA dominated the 100 hurdles, sweeping the Top 5 spots. Behind Ellis was junior Megan Snow (14.41), sophomore Anilah Bashir (14.60), freshman Jean Black (14.82) and freshman Jatoi Snell (14.83). They were just as impressive in the 400 meter hurdles, with Black taking first (1:03.68) _ second best in school history _ Snell second (1:04.53) and Bashir third (1:04.63).
On the men's side, sophomore Amos Gerber took first in the 5,000 meters in a school-record 14:48.18, senior Demarcus Harrison won the 110 meter hurdles (14.83), senior Bobby Washington took the high jump (2.05 meters) and senior Jaron Criswell won the long jump (7.15 meters).
UCA was edged out in the 4x400 relay, finishing second in 3:11.81 and finished third in the 4x100 (41.71). Freshman Kelton Ray was second in the 400 meters (48.57), while Connor Ryan was second (4:01.05) and Gerber third (4:02.52) in the 1,500 meters. James Anderson was second to Washington in the high jump (2.0 meters) and Wilburn Carter was second in the javelin (53.83 meters).

Sam Houston State Competes at J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight
HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The SHSU men's track and field team took home fourteen top eight finishes including two meet championships and three runner-up efforts from the J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight on Friday and Saturday.
Senior Henry Jordan earned the first victory of the meet for the Kats in the long jump. He leaped 24-5 for the win on his first jump of the competition, about an inch short of a season best. Jordan also took seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.82.
The 4x400 meter relay also took a meet championship for Sam Houston. Trey Jones, Brian Helaire, DJ Hayes and Jesse Martinez won the event besting their previous season record this season by over a second.
The SHSU women's track and field team took twenty top eight finishes including three runner-up performances and a new school record.
Alyssa Dooley set etched her name in the record book for the Kats again this year, this time in the 1500 meter run. Dooley's time of 4:30.61 bested the record that had been held by Jennifer Engelbrink since 2002 by nearly a second. Dooley took second place in the event.
Jenny Zoch earned her third top three finish of the season in the shot put. Her 45-9.75 toss took second place.

UT Arlington Distance Runners Strong Saturday
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UTA track and field teams completed their stay in California with strong performances Saturday, especially in the distance events, at the VS Athletics/Beach Invitational.
Emil Blomberg, who had a UTA all-time top-five time in the steeplechase Thursday at the Mt. SAC Relays, continued his strong performance on the West Coast, winning his heat of the 1500 in a time of 3:51.62.Blomberg edged teammate Anthony Hilliman, who also posted a season-best time of 3:53.92 in the event.
The women's team was very solid in the 800 meters as Lindsey Putman finished sixth in the top flight of the event with a time of 2:10.93. In addition, Ashly Wright (2:11.51), Elin Andersson (2:12.91) and Courtney Mose (2:14.24) all posted their best times of the season in the 800.
Hannah Nilsson logged her season-best 1500-meter time, running a 4:35.48 to finish third in her heat, while Breonna Baldwin won her section of the
400 meters with a clocking of 56.54.

Texas State Track & Field Posts Several Personal-Bests In Waco
WACO, Texas - The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams made the final away meet of the pre-conference season count as several Bobcats posted personal-bests at the Michael Johnson Dr. Pepper Classic in Waco on Saturday.
Seniors Michael Morris and Elena Horn both recorded first-place finishes Saturday as Morris bettered his time in the 5000 meters by more than 24 seconds with 14:50.68 to win the event by 26 seconds. In the pole vault, Horn finished with a height of 3.95 meters (12-11.50) to win the competition by nearly a foot with her second-best vault of the season.
Beginning the day for the Bobcats were Kelsey Titzman, Jalisa Hall, Darian Brown and Chaz Laijas in the hammer throw. Titzman recorded a personal-best in the event to finish second with a distance of 53.92 meters (176-11) for a seven-foot improvement from her previous record. Following Titzman was Hall, who threw 52.19 meters (171-03) to take third. For the men, Brown also collected a personal record in the hammer with 53.02 meters (173-11) to place second in front of Laijas, who finished with 51.60 meters (169-03) to finish third.

Eight Victories For Lions Cap Historic Day at Southeastern Louisiana Invitational
HAMMOND, La- It was a long time coming for the Southeastern Louisiana University track and field program as the Lions officially dedicated its new complex and held its first-ever Southeastern Lion Invitational on Friday.
With over 100 track and field alumni members returning to campus, including some from as far away as Colorado and many from the Lions' 1975 National Championship team, Southeastern held its first official track meet since the early 1990's.
Competing on its own track for the first time, Southeastern claimed seven individual titles along with men's 4x400-meter dash in a meet that featured 11 teams, including Southland Conference rivals Lamar, McNeese State, Nicholls State and Northwestern State.
Freshman Ikea Kaufman paced four Lady Lions to individual titles as she claimed the high jump in a season-best mark of 5 feet, 6 inches. Jessica Fekete captured the women's hammer throw with a mark of 175-9 while Brittany Pfantzclaimed the pole vault (12-11.50) and Michelle Ogashi the triple jump (42-00.75).

Islanders Win Four Events, Clock Several Personal Records Saturday at Rice
HOUSTON, Texas - The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's and women's track and field teams won four events and set several personal records Saturday at the ninth annual J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight meet on the campus of Rice University at Holloway Track and Ley Field. Freshman Jasmine Boutte won the women's 800m, sophomore Brandi Huff clinched the women's javelin and junior BreAnna Briggs took the top spot in the women's 5000m. The women's 4x100 meter relay team also sealed the top spot and set a new school record.
Boutte finished first in the women's 800m with a season-best time of 2:12.08, which ranks second all-time in the Islanders records. The freshman improved her previous time of 2:12.25 set at the Victor Lopez Rice Classic in March.
Huff won the women's javelin with a mark of 41.15m (135-00), which ranks second all-time behind her season-best distance of 42.86m (140-07) set at the Texas Relays in March. The sophomore also picked up a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.16m (43-02.25), which is good for fourth in the Islanders records.
On the men's side, William Scott won his heat of the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 54.05. His time meets the qualifying standard and moves into fourth in the records.
In the men's 400m, Cordarius Edmondson placed second in his heat and sixth overall with a season-best time of 48.50 to qualify. He improved his previous qualifying time of 48.60 set at the Texas State Invitational a couple weeks ago. His time places third in the Islanders records. Matt Youngblood also competed in the men's 400m. He clocked a third-place finish right behind Edmondson with a season-best time of 49.06. His time matches his mark from a season ago at the J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight meet. David Carrillo also competed with a time of 50.15.

UTSA's Hayes Rewrites Record Book For Second Consecutive Week
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Sophomore Keyunta Hayes once again rewrote UTSA's 110-meters hurdles record book and also was victorious in the 400m hurdles for the second consecutive week at Saturday's Longhorn Invitational to highlight the Roadrunners' busy weekend that included action at four meets across the country.
The reigning Southland Conference Athlete of the Week clocked a wind-aided 13.75 in a runner-up finish (top collegian) to De'Lon Ison (13.64) in the 110-meter hurdles. That was six ticks faster than the mark he recorded at last Saturday's Texas Invitational and the Tyler native now holds a commanding 38 one-hundredths-of-a-second advantage in the conference standings (12th NCAA).
Meanwhile, junior Phil Steinert also won for the third time in his last four meets on Saturday, as he registered a measurement of 192-5 (58.64m) in the hammer. The Round Rock native's throw was nearly 11 feet further than his nearest competitor.
The UTSA women's track & field team saw four school records fall and it registered a total of 14 top-three performances this weekend at four different meets across the country.
Leading the way was the 400-meter relay squad of freshman Shahira Ehiemua, sophomore Jhorden Hunter, frosh Chiugo Okonkwo and sophomore Krystal Wynn. The quartet broke the program's 17-year-old mark in the event after passing the baton in 45.26 en route to a runner-up performance at Saturday's Longhorn Invitational. It was five one-hundredths of a second better than the previous record established by Cherisse Lezama, Portia Matthews, Tiffany Williams and Tameka Roberts during the 1995 campaign (45.31). The Roadrunners now hold a commanding half-second lead in the Southland Conference standings.

McNeese State's Rooney Sets School Record in 5,000 meters
LAKE CHARLES, La. - A school record run and victory in the 5000 meters by David Rooney highlighted McNeese State track and field efforts late Friday night and Saturday.
Rooney ran in the Mt. SAC Relays in California late Saturday and won the 5000 meter open event with a school record clocking of 13:53.04. He broke his own record by 14 seconds. He won over Missouri's Dan Quigley by two seconds.
Also in late races in California, Fionnuala Ross finished fourth in the women's 10,000 meters with a career best 35:18.06 which is also the second fastest in McNeese history.
And, in the men's 5000 meters, Alex Bruce-Littlewood ran 14:24.55 for a 14th place showing.
In Baton Rouge in the LSU Classic track and field meet, the Cowgirls got a first place from Desarae Couthren in the women's 400 hurdles, a second by Ashlee Smith in the discus and a fourth from Ashleigh Wells in the 400 meters while the Cowboys best was a fourth by Thomas Canchola in the shot put and a sixth by Ben Chretien in the javelin.

Colonels Win Big at Lion Invitational
HAMMOND, La - Looking to outdo its solid performance from last week, the Nicholls State University women's track and field team did one better this week, taking home four gold medals at Southeastern Lion Invitational on Friday.
Jackie White became the first Colonel athlete this year to win two events in one meet, taking home honors in the 800 and 1500-meter run events. Sarah Pressley won her first individual gold of the year in taking home the women's 3000-meter run title, while Jaimee Springer won the javelin throw for the second consecutive week.
White took the 800-meter title by a half second over the next closest competitor, finishing in 2:18.62, and then winning the 1500-meter event in 4:56.24, .20 seconds faster than Tessni Carruthers, who finished second in that race, and tenth in the 800-meter run in 2:25.76.

Lamar Wins Three Events at Rice
HOUSTON, Texas - A 1-2-3 finish in the men's 1,500 meters highlighted Lamar's performance at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet that wrapped up late Saturday night at Rice University.
Tom Wade won the event in 3 minutes, 47.18 seconds. Joe Wade was second in 3:48.13 and Sam Stabler placed third in 3:49.42. Lamar's Chris Jones was 10th in 3:55.33.
Lamar's Chris Smith won the men's 800 meters in 1:50.08. Lamar had two top-10 finishers in the men's 5,000 meters, as Alex Dela Garza was fourth in 14:41.29 and Anthony Pequeno placed sixth in 14:46.05.
In the women's competition, Lamar's Samantha Walkow won the 1,500 meters in a personal best of 4:29.15, the third-fastest time in school history. Becky Gough was sixth in 4:35.35.
Lamar's Angela LaBorde was second in the women's 5,000 meters in 17:58.86. Teammate Nora-Beth Saunders turned in a time of 18:18.07 to finish 10th.

Northwestern State's Griffin Wins 400-meters with school-record time
BATON ROUGE, La. - Quiana Griffin broke a 14-year-old Northwestern State school record Saturday as she won the 400 meter dash at LSU's Alumni Gold track and field meet.
Griffin finished first in 54.96, edging LSU's Montene' Speight (55.01). The sophomore's time shaved one-hundredth off the former school mark of 54.97 by Shekarah Kyles in 1998.
NSU's Trey Hatton ran third in the 100 meter dash with a 10.61 time, a 2012 best for him. NSU's Constance Seibles was third in the women's 200 (24.69, also a season's best), while Lady Demon freshman Ashley Aldredge took third in the javelin with a 159-11 throw. She was the top collegiate finisher.
Lawana Perkins ran 2:15.13 for fourth in the women's 800. She joined Griffin, Seibles and Consuela Lindsay on the fourth-place 4x400 meter relay time with a season-best 3:42.86, trailing Canada, LSU and Texas A&M.

Stephen F. Austin Posts Four Individual Titles in Waco
WACO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams recorded four individual titles, and numerous top-five finishes at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas Saturday.
The Ladyjacks were led by Paige McCutcheon who clocked a time of 55.84 to win the 400-meter dash. She returned to the track to lead a trio of Ladyjacks who recorded top-six finishes in the women's 200-meters. McCutcheon was third overall with a time of 24.75, while freshmen Brarsheyia Simpson was fifth (24.922) and Olivia Harris was sixth (24.925).
Freshman Madison Johnston just missed an individual title in the field events for the Ladyjacks. She recorded a throw of 144-5 to finish second in the javelin. Christian Donald and Stephanie White recorded top-five finishes in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Donald recorded a time of 1:02.76 to finish third overall, while White was fifth (1:04.44). Chelsea Stephen clocked the Ladyjacks' fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.68 to finish fourth overall.
Danielle Burchett and De'Andrea Rouwtt both recorded fourth-place finishes in the 800-meters. Burchett recorded a time of 2:09.46 in the evening heat while Rouwtt crossed the line with a time of 2:17.50 in the afternoon heat
