Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s BreAnna Briggs earned the Women’s Cross Country Athlete Award for the second time in 2012 for her accomplishments on the course while freshman Edward Limo of Central Arkansas and McNeese State’s David Rooney were named Men’s Cross
Country Co-Athletes of the Week following week five action league announced Tuesday.
Men’s Cross Country Co-Athletes of the Week – Edward Limo- Central Arkansas and David Rooney- McNeese State
Edward Limo claimed the individual title in the 8K race at the Islander Splash hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend. The Eldoret, Kenya, native covered the course in 25:44.3 while Central Arkansas finished second overall.
David Rooney finished fifth overall at the Notre Dame Invitational while leading the Cowboys to a ninth-place team finish and ahead of two nationally ranked squads. The Dublin, Ireland, native covered 8K in an impressive 23:41.

Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – BreAnna Briggs, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
Briggs collected the women’s cross country athlete of the award for the second time on the season when she finished second in the 5K as A&M-Corpus Christi hosted the Islanders Splash. The senior ran the course in a time of 18:12.7 to lead the women’s team to
a first-place finish.
