Sam Houston State earned the top seed for the 2013 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament which will be played Wednesday through Saturday at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas. The 7,500-seat Constellation Field is home to the Sugar Land Skeeters, a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, and opened in 2012.

Stephen F. Austin shortstop Hunter Dozier has been named the Southland Conference Player of the Year by a vote of the league’s head coaches and sports information, the conference announced Monday in conjunction with the release of its all-conference teams. The junior was also named the league’s hitter of the year, becoming the second Lumberjack to collect both awards in the last three seasons.
