Southland Conference Announces Football Players of the Week
FRISCO, Texas - McNeese State linebacker Malcolm Bronson, who made a game-saving interception in the Cowboys' 30-27 victory at Texas State, was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The conference also recognized Stephen F. Austin quarterback Jeremy Moses as the offensive player of the week and Sam Houston State linebacker Vince Dotson as the special teams player of the week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Jeremy Moses, Stephen F. Austin
Stephen F. Austin quarterback Jeremy Moses completed 36-of-56 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns to beat Southeastern Louisiana 41-10. The junior from Baytown, Texas (Lee) has six 300-yard games this season and has totaled 3,155 yards this season on 67 percent accuracy (286-for-427). It was also the sixth game this season he has thrown four touchdowns in a game and his fourth game without an interception. The win kept the Lumberjacks in first place in the Southland standings entering this Saturday's regular season finale against Northwestern State. This is Moses' second player of the week award this season.

Defensive Player of the Week: Malcolm Bronson, McNeese State
McNeese State linebacker Malcolm Bronson led the Cowboy defense with eight tackles and made game saving pass interception to preserve a 30-27 victory at Texas State. The freshman from Jasper, Texas (Jasper), intercepted a Bradley George pass at the McNeese State 10-yard line and returned it 17 yards with only 22 seconds left in the game. Bronson leads the Cowboys with 57 tackles. With the victory, McNeese State remained in a first-place tie going into the final game of the regular season Saturday against Central Arkansas. That game will be televised by the Southland Conference Television network at 6 p.m. This is Bronson's first player of the week award this season.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Vince Dotson, Sam Houston State
Sam Houston State linebacker Vince Dotson blocked a Central Arkansas punt from the SHSU 49, picked it up at the UCA 36 and ran it in for the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter to spark the Bearkats to a 17-14 victory over the Bears. The freshman walkon from DeSoto, Texas (DeSoto), who earned a spot on the Bearkats' special teams unit, got a hand on an earlier punt and made three tackles on special teams. This is the first player of the week award for Dotson, who has nine tackles this season.
Honorable Mention: Jonathan Beard, Central Arkansas; Josh Lewis, McNeese State; Beau Mothe, Southeastern Louisiana.
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
