FRISCO, Texas - Central Arkansas freshman forward Megan Herbert was named the Southland women's basketball player of the week by vote of the league's sports information directors the conference office announced Monday. Herbert receives her league-leading third award of the season and is the first league player to receive two consecutive player of the week awards this year.

Herbert, a native of Rogers, Ark., broke the Central Arkansas record for consecutive double-doubles by recording her 10th straight in leading the Sugar Bears to their eighth straight win in a 52-47 come-from-behind victory at Eastern Kentucky of the Ohio Valley Conference. Herbert had game highs with 20 points and 13 rebounds and shot 53.8 percent from the field to guide the Sugar Bears to just its fourth non-conference road win since moving to Division I and joining the Southland Conference in 2006.

Honorable mention this week goes to UTSA sophomore guard Whitney York. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women's basketball sports information directors.

Each school's SID nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
