Jade Davis Named Southland Women?s Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi junior guard Jade Davis was named the Southland women's basketball player of the week by vote of the league's sports information directors the conference office announced Monday. Davis receives her second award of the season joining Lamar junior guard Jenna Plumley and Central Arkansas forward Megan Herbert as the only players to win two or more player of the week awards this season.

Davis, a native of West Columbia, Texas, posted her second 30-plus point effort of the season to lead the Islanders to a come from behind victory over Texas State to remain perfect in conference play. The Islanders are now 3-0 in conference games this year with Davis leading the way at 15.3 points per game.

Honorable mention this week goes to Lamar senior forward Brittany Williams, Northwestern State junior guard Brittiany Houston, Stephen F. Austin junior guard Ebony Alexander and UTSA junior guard Judy Jones. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women's basketball sports information directors.

Each school's SID nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
