UTSA Hosts Southeastern Louisiana in Toyota Game of the Week on Southland TV

FRISCO, Texas - Southeastern Louisiana will visit UTSA Saturday in the Toyota Game of the Week on the Southland Conference Television Network. Coverage begins at 2 p.m., CST, from the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Southeastern Louisiana improved to 13-8 overall and 5-3 in the Southland after beating Texas State 75-66 on Wednesday. The Lions head to San Antonio with a three-game win streak. UTSA, which is 12-8 overall and 2-5 in league play, will be trying to snap a five-game losing skid at home, where it is 7-2 this season. Southeastern is 3-6 in road games this season.

The Lions are led by Patrick Sullivan, who is averaging 15.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. His scoring average ranks sixth in the conference, while his rebounding average ranks fourth. Damon Forest and Trent Hutchin are also scoring in double figures, averaging 11.1 and 10.3 points per game. Southeastern leads the Southland in field-goal percentage (47.8), field-goal percentage defense (39.1), 3-point field-goal percentage (39.9) and blocked shots (5.4) and are second in scoring margin (+8.3), assists (15.2), defensive rebounds (25.3) and 3-point field goals made (7.4). Southeastern is averaging 73.9 points per contest.

UTSA has four players averaging in double figures, led by Morris Smith IV, who is averaging 12.9 points per game. Devin Gibson has a scoring average of 12.7, while Omar Johnson and Terry Fields are averaging 10.8 and 10.0 points per game, respectively. UTSA is the top conference team defending the 3-pointer, holding opponents to just 28.6 percent from behind the arc. The Roadrunners have the second-best scoring defense in the league, allowing just 63.8 points per game. UTSA also ranks second in the Southland with its 38.3 percentage from 3-point range. Melvin Johnson III is making a conference-best 54.1 percent of his 3-point shots.

This will be the 26th all-time contest between the schools. UTSA has a 13-12 edge in the series and has won the last two meetings after losing the previous five.

The Southland Conference Television Network, which is in its second season, will televise 16 men's and women's basketball games this season. It has televised 11 football games and the championship games of the conference soccer and volleyball tournaments. The Network will also televise the championship games of the softball and baseball tournaments this spring. Doug Anderson will handle play-by-play duties, while LaDarrin McLane will serve as the color analyst.

Currently, there are nine affiliates in the three-state network, including WBTR-TV in Baton Rouge, La.; WSTY-TV in Hammond, La.; KPXJ-TV in Shreveport, La. and Texarkana, Texas; KUIL-TV in Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas; MyTX 18 in Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches and Lufkin; KNWS-TV in Houston, Baytown and Sugar Land, Texas; Suddenlink Communications in Lake Charles, La.; Time Warner Cable in Arlington, Austin, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Edinburg, Harlingen, Killeen, Plano, San Antonio, San Marcos, Temple and Waco, Texas; and Grande Communications on the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas.

The Southeastern Louisiana vs. UTSA game will re-air on Fox College Sports Central Sunday at 2 p.m., CST.
