FRISCO, Texas - Northwestern State sophomore Martina Rubesova has been named the Southland Conference's women's tennis player of the week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Rubesova's singles and doubles wins were pivotal in a hard-fought win over Sam Houston State. With several tightly-contested singles and doubles matches, Rubesova won at No. 2 singles and doubles.

The Usti na Laben, Czech Republic (University of Economics in Prague) moved up a spot in the lineup to prevail in singles over Pozzan in a three-set match. She is 7-0 in singles and 8-0 in doubles with Andrea Nedorostova.

Honorable mention for this week's women's award goes to Southeastern Louisiana sophomore Morgane Dadot and UT Arlington senior Klara Jagosova. A student-athlete must receive 25-percent of the votes from the league's SIDs in order to qualify for honorable mention.

Each school's SID nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
