Kipruto, Koenig Named Southland Cross Country Athletes of the Week
FRISCO, Texas - Lamar junior Tallum Kipruto and UT Arlington freshman Emily Koenig were named the Southland Conference men's and women's cross country athletes of the week, respectively by vote of the league's sports information directors Tuesday.
Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week - Tallum Kipruto
A native of Nairobi, Kenya, Kipruto, won his first collegiate race for Lamar, covering 4,750 meters in 14:46.25. Lamar had 35 points to edge out Rice (38) and Houston for top team honors.

Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week - Emily Koenig
In her very first collegiate meet, Koenig, a native of Temple, Texas, guided the Mavericks to a third place finish with her time of 14:31.88 in the 4k run, earning first place.
