SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State junior Travis Ballew was selected as one of 51 pitchers from across the country featured on the initial Pitcher of the Year Watch List, presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

The winner of the Pitcher of the Year Award will be announced on June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the annual College Baseball Night of Champions. The event features the presentation of numerous awards and the induction ceremony for this year's Hall of Fame class.

"The pitchers featured on this top 50 list have been dominant all season," said Justin Knowles, Pitcher of the Year Award co-chair. "They have impressive individual game statistics as well as season-long numbers that justify their inclusion on the list. I look forward to seeing how they finish the last month of the season."

Ballew is the only pitcher from the Southland Conference on the list that features hurlers from 16 different NCAA Division I conferences.

"I think it just goes to show how balanced college baseball is," said co-chair Landon Holly. "From large schools and conferences to smaller programs, there are dominant pitchers across the country. These players have put up tremendous numbers and deserve this recognition."

Ballew has compiled a 7-3 record and 2.21 ERA in 10 starts this season for the Bobcats. He has struck out 78 batters in 69.1 innings on the mound while holding opposing hitters to a .223 batting average. A junior from Rockwall, Ballew has two complete games to his credit this season and was named both the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week and a member of the College Baseball Hall of Fame National All-Star Lineup during the third week of the season after tossing a complete game shutout against Notre Dame in which he struck out 11 batters.
