A Bobcat attack error tied the set at 7-all for the set. Cave brought the set to 13-all, but the Mavs scored four straight points to go up 17-13 on Texas State.

Texas State came out of the timeout pumped as they came to within one of UTA at 17-18. AJ Watlington brought the score to 19-20, followed by a kill by two kills by Middleton. With the set tied at 24-all, Weynand recorded a solo block to put the Bobcats on top. The set went into extra points as Middleton and Weynand were able to end the set on back-to-back kills for the Bobcats.

UTSA 3, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
SAN ANTONIO - UTSA hit a season-high .376 and the Roadrunners ended their three-match losing streak with an easy 25-20, 25-15, 25-10 victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday night at the Convocation Center.

Led by outside hitters Whitney Walls (14 kills) and Kendra Rowland (12), UTSA committed just nine errors on its 109 attacks and racked up 50 winners in the one-hour, 13-minute contest. The victory ran the Birds' record to a perfect 12-0 in the all-time series with the Islanders and five of the last seven meetings have been sweeps.

After A&M-Corpus Christi took a 20-18 lead in the opening set, UTSA (10-16, 5-7 Southland) scored the final seven points for the early 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners then raced out to a 6-1 advantage in the following frame and never looked back, hitting .364 (15 kills/3 errors/33 attacks) in the process, and they took a commanding edge into intermission.

UTSA came out of the locker room and thoroughly dominated the final set. The Birds hit a sizzling .536 on the strength of 17 winners and just a pair of errors on their 28 swings, leaving no doubt who was the better team.

Walls hit .458 on the night to continue her tremendous play on the right side. The freshman from Arlington has racked up 49 kills (4.08 kps) in her last three contests and is hitting a robust .459 during that stretch. Setters Amber Brooks and Vickie Mundell each handed out 20 assists in Laura Neugebauer-Groff's 6-2 offense and Mundell served up a match-best three aces.

Defensively, libero Kelsey Jewasko recorded 19 digs and middle hitter Brittney Malloy had four block assists.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (7-20, 0-12 Southland), which dropped its 12th consecutive match, was led by Jessica Korda and Emma Ridley, who both had 10 kills.

UTSA hits the road for the final time this fall when it travels to the Bayou State of Louisiana this weekend. The Birds will take on Nicholls (11-15, 5-7 Southland) at 7 p.m. on Friday followed by a 2 p.m. tilt at Southeastern Louisiana (7-16, 3-9 Southland) the next day.

Southeastern Louisiana 3, Nicholls 2
HAMMOND, La. - Rallying from two sets down, the Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team helped its Southland Conference Tournament chances with a hard-fought 21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-13 league victory over Nicholls in women's basketball action Tuesday night in the University Center.

Southeastern (8-15, 4-8 Southland) earned its second straight victory over an in-state league opponent. The Colonels fell to 10-16 overall and 4-8 in the Southland. The win allowed Southeastern to complete a season sweep over its closest league rival.

Southeastern senior Lauren Mayer led Southeastern with 14 kills and was one of three Lady Lions to post double-digit kills. Junior Allison Jones had 11 kills and freshman Taylor Buckner provided a huge spark upon her insertion into the match in the third set, recording a double-double with 12 kills and 19 digs. Senior Katie Collins recorded 48 assists, while junior Alex Greer led the Lady Lions with 21 digs.

Jennifer Brandt led Nicholls with 17 kills, while both Rachel Yezak (match-high 24 digs, 12 kills) and Manieka Golden (15 kills, 17 digs) had double-doubles for the Colonels. Amy Whitehead finished with a match-high 53 assists, while Danielle Daigle and Rachel Spreen contributed 21 and 11 digs, respectively.

Southeastern hit only .038 in the first two sets, falling into a 2-0 hole going into the break. After the brief intermission, Lady Lions Paige Dollison (eight kills, .333 hitting percentage) and Buckner gave Southeastern a needed boost. Southeastern finished with a .158 hitting percentage, but hit .235 over the final three sets.

Down two sets, Buckner took over in the third set, finishing with seven kills as Southeastern made the score 2-1 with a 25-21 victory in the third set. The Lady Lions were aided by eight Nicholls errors in the set.

Southeastern was dominant in the fourth set, behind six kills from Mayer. Southeastern hit .250 on the way to taking the set, 25-17, while holding Nicholls to a .091 hitting percentage and forcing a fifth set.

A kill by Buckner gave Southeastern an early 4-0 lead in the deciding set, but Nicholls scratched back to make it 6-5 on a kill by Jasmine Harris. That would be as close as the Colonels as a Mayer winner gave Southeastern a match point at 14-10.

A kill by Yezak and consecutive attack errors by Buckner pulled the Colonels within one, but Dollison closed it out with a spike just inside the right baseline to preserve the victory.

Southeastern will close out its home schedule this week, hosting A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m. and UTSA on Saturday at 2 p.m.
