SAN ANTONIO, Texas - UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox recently was named as an assistant coach for the United States at the annual Thorpe Cup team decathlon competition.

The USA/Germany dual meet will take place from Aug. 7-8 in Marburg, Germany. Representing Team USA at the event will be Nick Adcock, Mat Clark, Joe Detmer, Chris Helwick, Mark Jellison, Miller Moss and Trinity Otto. Northern Iowa's Dan Steele will serve as the squad's head coach.

"It's been a long time since I've had the honor to represent the United States at an international competition," said Fox, who has led UTSA to seven Southland Conference Championships (five indoor/two outdoor) in his eight seasons as head coach. "I was on the Junior National team in 1995 and to be able to coach athletes at this level is quite an honor. I'm very excited about working with Dan and the top decathletes in the world."
