UCA’s Duever Named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas senior center Courtney Duever been named Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It marks the fourth time the season Duever has earned the weekly honor.
Duever led Central Arkansas to a home win against Oral Roberts last week to keep the Sugar Bears in first place secure a berth to the to Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament in Katy, Texas, March 13-16. The senior from Austin, Texas (Westlake), scored 24 of her career-high 36 points in the second half against the Golden Eagles to lead UCA to a 62-54 win. Duever’s 36 points ties the highest total for a conference player this season and is the most against a league opponent since Lamar’s Jenna Plumley score 36 against Texas State on March 2, 2011. Duever added 12 rebounds to collect her 12th double-double of the season and eighth in conference games.
Honorable mention this week goes to Nicholls sophomore guard Emani White and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi junior guard Shola Adeboya. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women’s basketball sports information directors.
Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
