FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas junior right-hander Connor Gilmore has been named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week and Southeastern Louisiana sophomore outfielder Jacob Seward has been named the Southland hitter of the week, the league office announced Monday.

Gilmore won his fifth-straight start with his fourth complete game in the last five outings after this weekend’s play. He threw only 83 pitches, allowed six hits (all singles) and walked no batters for second consecutive game. Gilmore posts a 2.02 ERA with a 7-2 record and his first the Bear’s record book in shutouts (4), third in career wins (19) and fourth in complete games (10).

Seward turned in multi-hit performances in all four games this past week, capping it off with a 5-for-5 day in the series finale at Houston Baptist. The sophomore from New Orleans, Louisiana, led off that game with a double to left-center field, hitting safely for the 22nd-straight game to tie the school hitting-streak record. Batting in the leadoff spot, he led the team in batting average and RBI. Seward hit .688 (11-for-16) during the week and did not strike out in 19 plate appearances. His performance this week made him the Southland's leading hitter heading into Sunday with a .379 average. This marks the second time this season Seward has been named hitter of the week.

Honorable mention for hitter of the week goes to Nicholls junior third baseman Kyle Reese, Sam Houston State senior outfielder Hayden Simerly, Northwestern State junior outfielder Cort Brinson and Central Arkansas senior outfielder Wesley Hoover. Honorable mention for pitcher of the week goes to McNeese State junior right-hander Kaleb Fontenot, Lamar senior left-hander Chase Angelle, UIW junior right-hander Geno Encina and Abilene Christian senior right-hander Thomas Altimont.
