SFA’s Allen, Olson Named Volleyball Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior Jacque Allen was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while the Ladyjack senior OJ Olson was named Defensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Jacque Allen, Stephen F. Austin
Jacque Allen had a huge weekend at the SFA Volleyball Invitational in Nacogdoches over the weekend, recording 37 kills on an efficient .559 attack percentage. She registered at least nine kills and hit at or above .500 in all four of SFA’s sweeps. On Friday night against Texas Tech, Allen posted nine kills on 14 swings and hit at a .500 clip to help the Ladyjacks sweep the Big 12 foe. She was named to the All-Tournament Team for her solid play.

Defensive Player of the Week – OJ Olson, Stephen F. Austin
OJ Olson led SFA to four convincing sweeps and a team title at the SFA Volleyball Invitational in Nacogdoches over the weekend. She registered a team-high 64 digs while helping SFA limit opponents to a combined .104 over the two-day event. Olson posted 20 kills in Friday night’s match against Texas Tech to help the Ladyjacks beat the Big 12 foe. The Red Raiders hit only .115 in the match.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
