Football Players of the Week Announced

PLANO, Texas -
Northwestern State University made a clean sweep of the Southland Conference football player of the week awards after its 63-14 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Greg Skidmore picked up the offensive award while Josh Burton has been recognized for his defensive efforts. Jamall Johnson and Brook Adams share the special teams awards after combining to block a punt and return it for a touchdown. Following is a look at their performances.
SOUTHLAND PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSE
GREG SKIDMORE, Northwestern State
So., TB, 5-7, 165, Baton Rouge, La.
Skidmore rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns to help Northwestern State to a 63-14 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Demons' fourth-team tailback recorded his second career 100-yard rushing game and posted career highs in carries and rushing yards, scoring on touchdowns of two and 16 yards as Northwestern State posted a 40-point plus game for the third straight week, only the second time in 96 seasons that the Demons have had three straight 40-point plus games.

DEFENSE
JOSH BURTON, NWLa., Sr., LB, 6-1, 205, Bossier City, La.
Burton recorded 10 tackles, including 1 1/2 tackles for lost yardage. He played just 15 snaps in the game 63-14 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Demons limited their Division-II foe to 143 total yards and six first downs.

CO-SPECIAL TEAMS

Johnson blocked a first-quarter punt that Adams recovered and returned it 26 yards for his first collegiate score and the Demons' third touchdown in their 63-14 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
