SLU's Ricky Woods Picks Up SLC's First Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Ricky Woods made a sudden impact at Southeastern Louisiana as the Paris Junior College transfer was named Southland Conference men's basketball player of the week on Tuesday. He helped SLU to a 3-0 start with wins over Henderson State, Idaho and Boise State, all at the Boise State Invitational as the Lions took the title and Woods was named MVP.

Woods was named the most valuable player at the Boise State Invitational after scoring 23 points in the championship against Boise State, a 63-54 win for the Lions. He scored 16 points in the second half as Southeastern posted its first 3-0 start since 1982-83. Woods scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in his debut off the bench against Henderson State, a 73-59 win for SLU.
