DALLAS, Texas - Former Northwestern State All-American Jermaine Jones of the Arena Football League's Dallas Desperados was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Week for Week 16.

Jones, who is in his fifth season in the AFL, became the first player in club history to return two interceptions for scores in one game in helping his team defeated the New York Dragons, 67-13, in the June 16 game. He also had three tackles.

For the season, Jones has recorded 85.5 tackles and seven interceptions as his team tops the AFL with a 14-1 record.

Jones was the Southland Conference Player of the Year in 1998 as the Demons reached the Division I-AA playoff semifinals. The Morgan City-Central Catholic product was a consensus All-America selection and was runner-up for the Buck Buchanan Award for national defensive player of the year.

The Desperados will travel to Colorado for their last regular season game on Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Monday on ESPN2, June 25, at 9 p.m. where they will have the opportunity to clinch the best record in the National Conference.
