UTSA Advances Past Northwestern State
LAKE CHARLES, La. ? A second half goal from UTSA freshman Erin McKay at 18:03 was the deciding factor as the No. 3 seed Roadrunners knocked No. 6 seed Northwestern State from playoff contention in match two of the Southland Conference Soccer Tournament.
McKay recorded her third goal of the season off a deflection from a corner kick eighteen yards out, giving UTSA the deciding goal.
UTSA closed their regular-season in a 1-0 win over Northwestern State only to turn around to face the Lady Demons again in another tough defensive battle. NSU recorded four shots on goal to UTSA’s nine.
UTSA advances to their third semifinals appearance in their brief three-year history. The Roadrunners will face tournament host No. 2 seed McNeese State tomorrow at 7 p.m.
