McNeese State to Host Southland Soccer Title Match
LAKE CHARLES, La. ? McNeese State topped No. 3 seed UTSA, 3-1, advancing to the Southland Conference Soccer Tournament title match.
McNeese senior forward and Southland Player of the Year, Kamryn Koch, netted her 20th and 21st goals of the season tying the league record for most goals in a season.
The Cowgirls got on the board first at the 18:03 mark in the first half as Koch redirected a deflection putting McNeese up 1-0.
UTSA evened the score as junior forward Halee Hamm kicked her fifth goal of the season at 38:53 in the second period.
Koch answered seven seconds later scoring the league record-tying goal to put McNeese up for good.
McNeese sophomore midfielder Alana Clark put the game away netting her first goal of the season at the 26:50 mark of the second half.
The Southland Conference Soccer Tournament title match is set to kick off this Sunday at 1 p.m., as the No. 1 seed and regular season champion Texas State Bobcats will face the No. 2 seed and tournament host McNeese State Cowgirls.
