Lamar's Clerc Koenck Named SLC Women's Indoor Track And Field Student Athlete Of The Year

FRISCO, Texas ? In her four years at Lamar University, Clerc Koenck has been a record-setting force in the Southland Conference. At the end of her senior season, Koenck can now add Women’s Student-Athlete of the Year to her list of achievements.

 

A four-year letter winner for the Cardinals, Koenck put together on of the best resumes in Lamar athletics history. The Anacoco, Louisiana, native led her teammates in cross country to three team conference championships while earning two individual conference titles. She also has two outdoor 1,500-meter conference titles, two indoor mile conference titles, two indoor 3,000-meter conference titles and three indoor distance medley conference titles.

 

In addition, Koenck is a two-time Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Track Performer. She has made an appearance in the cross country national championships and he was the first LU runner in eight years to advance to the NCAA Indoor Championships.

 

Her dominating abilities also made their mark on the Lamar record books in track, setting new school records in the indoor 3,000, indoor mile, distance medley relay and the outdoor 1,500. She owns the Southland Conference record in the indoor mile and has the second-fastest indoor 3,000 in conference history.

 

Her determination on the track and the cross country course has earned her national recognition as well, being named an Academic All-American two times by the U.S. Track and Field And Cross Country Coaches Association in cross country and on the track.

An Exercise Science major, Koenck maintained a 3.77 GPA.
