Lamar Eliminates SLU, Advances To SLC Tournament Title Game
HUNTSVILLE, Texas ? After suffering their worst loss of the season to Southeastern Louisiana (17-1) on Friday the Cardinals rebounded eliminating the Lions, 4-2, advancing to today’s SLC Baseball Tournament title game at 3:20 p.m.
First team all conference selection Brian Sisk kept a hot Lions line up in check tossing a career high 123 pitches in a complete game effort giving up only one earned run, five hits and two walks.
Next up for the Cardinals are the Sam Houston State Bearkats. SHSU is 3-0 thus far in the tournament and has outscored opponents 27-8.
Since the conference tournament was reinstated in 1993, Lamar and Sam Houston each have two tournament titles to their credit with the Bearkats making a return trip to defend its 2007 tournament title.
Lamar’s record 24 SLC Tournament wins will be put to the test in the title game as Sam Houston State holds a 4-0 record against Lamar in the 2008 season.
