Championship Match of Southland Volleyball Tournament will be Televised on Southland TV

FRISCO, Texas - The championship match of the 2009 Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament, which is being played at the UTSA Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas, will be televised live on the Southland Conference Television Network Sunday at 2 p.m., Central.

The tournament began Friday with four quarterfinal matches. No. 1 seed Texas State and No. 8 Southeastern Louisiana meet in the first match of the tournament at 11 a.m. and then No. 4 Lamar meets No. 5 UT Arlington at 1:30 p.m. The other quarterfinal matches pit No. 2 Sam Houston State vs. No. 7 Nicholls at 4 p.m. and No. 3 Stephen F. Austin and No. 6 UTSA at 6:30 p.m.

The winners of the first two matches will meet Saturday at 1 p.m. and then winners of the second two matches will face each other Saturday at 4 p.m. Those winners advance to Sunday's championship.

Texas State finished 19-12 overall and 13-3 to earn the top seed in the tournament. The Bobcats are in search of their sixth Southland Conference tournament championship. They last won in 2007. Lamar won last year's tournament championship.

The Southland Conference Television Network is now in its second season. The 2009-10 slate includes 11 football games, 16 men's and women's basketball games and championship games of the soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball conference tournaments. Doug Anderson will handle play-by-play duties, while Jenny McGhee will serve as the color analyst.

The three-state network includes KARZ-TV in Little Rock, Pine Bluff and Conway, Ark.; WBTR-TV in Baton Rouge, La.; WSTY-TV in Hammond, La.; KPXJ-TV in Shreveport, La. and Texarkana, Texas; KUIL-TV in Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas; MyTX 18 in Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches and Lufkin; Suddenlink Communications in Lake Charles, La.; Time Warner Cable in Arlington, Austin, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Edinburg, Harlingen, Killeen, Plano, San Antonio, San Marcos, Temple and Waco, Texas; and Grande Communications on the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas.


All seven games of the soccer tournament will be streamed live to SLC NOW, the conference's live and on-demand video and audio channel on Southland.org. All SLC NOW programming is free to anyone who registers on the site.
