FRISCO, Texas - Lamar guard Anthony Miles was named the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Miles averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds to help Lamar win two road games at a pair of Ohio Valley Conference schools. The senior from Houston, Texas (Clear Brook H.S.), scored a career-high 31 points in Lamar's 85-65 win last Friday at Tennessee Tech, a game in which he also handed out a season-high eight assists. He also hit a career-high 12 free throws in the game. Miles started the road trip with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting in an 80-69 win at UT Martin last Tuesday. In the two games, Miles made 15 of 25 shots from the floor, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and made 16 of 19 free throws.

Honorable mention this week goes to Central Arkansas guard LaQuentin Miles, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi forward Myron Dempsey, Stephen F. Austin guard Antonio Bostic and McNeese State forward Patrick Richard. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland men's basketball sports information directors.

Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player.
