Lamar's Anthony Miles Named Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Texas - Lamar guard Anthony Miles was named the Southland Conference Men's
Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Miles
averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds to help Lamar win two road
games at a pair of Ohio Valley Conference schools. The senior from Houston,
Texas (Clear Brook H.S.), scored a career-high 31 points in Lamar's 85-65 win
last Friday at Tennessee Tech, a game in which he also handed out a season-high
eight assists. He also hit a career-high 12 free throws in the game. Miles
started the road trip with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting in an 80-69 win at UT
Martin last Tuesday. In the two games, Miles made 15 of 25 shots from the
floor, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and made 16 of 19 free throws.
Honorable
mention this week goes to Central Arkansas guard LaQuentin Miles, Texas
A&M-Corpus Christi forward Myron Dempsey, Stephen F. Austin guard Antonio
Bostic and McNeese State forward Patrick Richard. To receive honorable mention,
a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland men's basketball
sports information directors.
Each
school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the
week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player.
