FRISCO, Texas - The championship game of the 2011 Southland Conference Softball Tournament will be televised live on the Southland Conference Television Network Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Bearkat Softball Complex in Huntsville, Texas.

The tournament begins Thursday at 11 a.m. with No. 4 seed McNeese State vs. No. 5 seed UTSA. The winner will face top-seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 4 p.m. No. 3 seed Texas State will play No. 6 seed Northwestern State Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to meet No. 2 seed UT Arlington at 6:30 p.m.

The six-team, double-elimination tournament continues with four games Friday. One other elimination game will be played Saturday at 10:30 a.m. before the first pitch of the championship game at 2 p.m. An 11th game would be played in the event an undefeated team lost in the title game, forcing a second game to uphold the double-elimination format.

The first championship game will air live on 17 local affiliates across the region on the Southland Conference Television Network. The second, if necessary, will air live to a national audience exclusively on Fox College Sports Central.

All 11 potential games will also be streamed live on SLC NOW on the Southland Conference website, Southland.org. All SLC NOW programming is free to anyone who registers on the site.

Chris Mycoskie, the director of television and electronic media for the Southland Conference, will handle streaming play-by-play duties for the first nine games of the tournament. He will pass off the play-by-play headset for the championship game to Doug Anderson and will assume the role of color analyst.

This year, the award-winning Southland Conference Television Network, which was honored last summer with a College Sports Media Award and three prestigious Telly Awards, has televised 10 football games, 17 basketball games and the championship matches of the women's soccer and volleyball tournaments. The network also will televise the championship game of the baseball conference tournament.
