Southland TV to Televise Northwestern State at Nicholls State

FRISCO, Texas - Northwestern State visits Nicholls State Saturday with "NSU" bragging rights up for grabs in the Toyota Game of the Week on the Southland Conference Television Network. Network coverage begins at 3 p.m., Central, with kickoff slated for 3:05 p.m.

After going Northwestern State is 1-2 this season and enters trying to snap a two-game losing streak. After a win over Delta State in the season opener, the Demons have dropped back-to-back games at LSU and SMU out of the Football Bowl Subdivision. The game is also the third consecutive road game to start the season. Northwestern is trying to find its identity on offense with an average of 192 yards of total offense through three games, including 138.3 yards passing. Quarterback Brad Henderson has completed 68.9 percent of his passes (42-of-61) for 361 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Justin Aldredge has caught one touchdown pass of his 10 receptions for 155 yards. Running back Rumeall Morris leads the team with 21 rushes for 61 yards though it is Sterling Endsley who has found the end zone twice in this young season.

Nicholls is also 1-2 on the year and will be trying to end a two-game skid to FBS opponents. The Colonels have followed a dominating win over Evangel in the season opener with losses at Western Michigan and Louisiana-Lafayette. Nicholls is averaging 277.3 yards on offense, including 182.3 yards on the ground. Running back Marcus Washington has 38 carries for 195 yards and a pair of scores. Quarterback LaQuintin Caston also has a pair of rushing touchdowns to go with 22-of-47 passing accuracy for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Four different receivers have caught a touchdown pass this season though Kenyad Blair, who leads the Colonels with nine receptions for 65 yards, has yet to find pay dirt.

This will be the 39th meeting between the schools with Northwestern holding a 24-14 advantage in the series. Nicholls has won each of the last two meetings, including last year's game, 37-7, in Natchitoches, and has won six of the last eight games between the rivals.

Randy McIlvoy, sports director at KPRC-TV in Houston, will handle football play-by-play duties and will be joined in the booth by color analyst Shea Walker, a former Texas A&M standout and veteran broadcaster for the last 17 years. Jane Slater, a reporter for WFAA-TV and KRLD-AM in Dallas, will serve as the sideline reporter.

The network reaches the Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Arkansas, market on KARZ (42.1). All Southland TV games will be streamed live and for free on SLC NOW on conference's website, Southland.org. This week's game will also be carried live on ESPN3 at WatchESPN.com and on the WatchESPN application for iPhone, iPad and Android users.

The game will re-air nationally on Fox College Sports Central, Sunday at 5 p.m., Central. The game will also air on tape delay in Laredo, Texas; Washington, D.C.; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Check the listings below for stations and times.
