FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana will put its unblemished conference record on the line Saturday when it plays host to Northwestern State Saturday in the Toyota Game of the Week on the Southland Conference Television Network. Coverage of the game begins at 3 p.m., CT, with kickoff at Strawberry Stadium in Hammond scheduled for 3:05 p.m., CT.

Southeastern stands at 2-0 and is the only unbeaten team in Southland Conference play after wins over McNeese State and Lamar. The Lions are 2-4 overall with losses to Missouri, South Dakota State, UT Martin and UAB. Northwestern State earned its first conference win last week at home against Lamar to even its league record at 1-1. The Demons dropped their conference opener a week earlier at McNeese State. The Demons are 3-3 overall with wins over Arkansas-Monticello and Mississippi Valley State and FBS losses at Texas Tech and Nevada.

Northwestern is averaging 28.0 points and 318.3 yards of total offense. Quarterback Brad Henderson has completed 102 of 180 passes for 1,058 yards and nine touchdowns. Sixteen different receivers have caught a pass, including four with double-digit reception totals. Phillip Harvey leads the team with 18 receptions for 267 yards and a pair of scores. He is also one of the most electrifying return men in the Southland, averaging 32.3 yards on six punt returns and 27.4 yards on 17 kick returns. He returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown against Mississippi Valley earlier this season. Harvey has totaled 1,021 all-purpose yards this season, an average 170.2 per game, which ranks 10th nationally. The Demon defense is limiting opponents to 30 points and 394.3 yards per game. Derek Rose leads the defense with 51 tackles. Stanley Moore leads the team with 18 catches for 259 yards. Michael Chaney has had the bulk of the carries for the Lions, totaling 123 yards and three touchdowns on 61 rushes, but he will miss the rest of the season with injury. True freshman Rasheed Harrell made his Southeastern debut last week at UAB in his place. The Lions have used 27 first-year players so far this season. Southeastern is averaging 14.8 points and 262.3 yards per game, while allowing 35.5 points and 386.3 yards per game. Kaleb Muse is the team’s top tackler with 44, while Devan Walker leads the team with three sacks. Robert Alford has two interceptions for the Lions. Alford also is the Lions’ return specialist. He has averaged 26.2 yards on four punt returns and returned one 75 yards for a score against Lamar.

The Southeastern vs. Northwestern series is the Lions longest series. The teams are meeting for the 56th time on Saturday with the Demons holding a 30-25 lead after claiming the last two games, including 51-17 last year in Natchitoches. The last Southeastern win was a 27-0 shutout of the Demons in 2009.

Randy McIlvoy, the sports director at KPRC-TV in Houston, will handle play-by-play duties and will be joined in the booth by color analyst Shea Walker, a former Texas A&M receiver and veteran broadcaster for the last 18 years. Erin Cofiell will serve as the sideline reporter.
