Southeastern Louisiana Pitcher Andro Cutura Named to Freshman All-American Team
TUCSON, Ariz. — Southeastern Louisiana
pitcher Andro Cutura was named to the 2012 Louisville Slugger Freshmen
All-American team Wednesday by Collegiate
Baseball newspaper.
The team is headed by Collegiate
Baseball’s Freshman Pitcher of The Year Carlos Rodon of N.C.
State who posted a 9-0 record, 1.61 ERA and fanned 132 batters and Freshman
Player of The Year OF Michael Conforto of Oregon St. who hit .349 with 14
doubles, 13 homers and 76 RBI.
Cutura was named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year after
compiling a 6-1 record and a 3.30 ERA. He struck out 38 and walked just 16 in
76.1 innings of work while holding opponents to a .244 batting average.
The right-hander from Pearl River, La., was undefeated (5-0) in
conference play and won his final six decisions. He earned his first collegiate
win in a start against then No. 21-ranked Mississippi State.
His selection gives Southeastern three All-Americans for the
first time in school history. Last month, Stefan Lopez (second team) and Brock
Hebert (third team) were named Louisville Slugger All-Americans.
