FRISCO, Texas –Central Arkansas senior center Courtney Duever has been named Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Duever sparked the Central Arkansas second-half comeback against Ole Miss with 14 points and nine rebounds to help the Sugar Bears erase a 10-point halftime deficit and defeat the Rebels, 66-63. The senior from Austin, Texas (Westlake H.S.), had a game-high 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to notch her 16th career double-double in the win. Duever shot 61.5 percent from the floor against the Rebels and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, including two in the waning seconds to help secure the win. Duever also recorded 12 points and seven rebounds in only 19 minutes of action in the season-opening 71-39 win against Alcorn State.
