In a game between two Southland teams in non-conference action, Sam Houston State bested Houston Baptist, 85-68, Tuesday night in Huntsville, Texas. The Bearkats were led by Nyha Carter and Taylor Dorsey, both of whom scored 17 points each. In other conference action, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won 72-62 against Belmont in its first road contest of the season and Abilene Christian handled Northwood, 105-44.  McNeese State fell to Texas Southern while Southeastern Louisiana lost to in-state foe Tulane.
