Seeding: Tournament seeding, 1 through 8, shall be based upon regular-season winning percentage in conference competition. In the event of a tie for any seeded position, seed shall be determined by utilizing the conference's tie-breaking formula.

Tie-breaker Procedure: All ties shall be broken in the order in which they occur, from top to bottom, in the standings. When comparing tied teams against positions higher or lower in the standings that are also tied, these higher or lower tied positions shall be considered a single position for the purposes of comparison.

Two-way Tie: If two (2) teams tie for a position, and one (1) team holds a head-to-head win-loss advantage during regular-season conference play, that team receives the higher seed. If the two (2) teams split their regular-season conference games, each tied team’s record shall be compared against the team occupying the highest position in the standings, continuing down through the standings until one (1) team gains the advantage and the higher seed.

Ties Between Three (3) of More Teams: If three (3) or more teams tie for a position, the combined record of each of the tied teams against the other teams involved in the tie shall be compared until an advantage is gained. If the multiple tie still exists, each of the tied teams’ records against the team occupying the highest position in the standings shall be compared, continuing down the standings until the tie is reduced to a two-team tie, at which time the procedure shall revert to the two-way tie-breaker.

Unbreakable Ties: In the event a tie cannot be broken using game results, the team(s) involved in the tie rated best in the RPI Report by Collegiate Basketball News in effect on Saturday morning of the final day of regular-season shall be named the higher seed(s). If a tie still exists after evaluating the Collegiate Basketball News power rating, the tie shall be broken by a coin flip by the commissioner.
