FRISCO, Texas – Abilene Christian junior guard Lizzy Dimba has been named Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league office announced Monday.

Dimba helped lead the Wildcats to a pair of road wins against Big Sky Conference schools Eastern Washington and Idaho last week. Both teams were undefeated at home prior to falling to ACU. Idaho was receiving votes in the USA Today Top-25 poll earlier this month after a 7-1 start. Dimba pulled down a key defensive rebound late in regulation to send the Idaho game into overtime, and her 13-point, 10-rebound double-double was her third of the season. Dimba recorded a team-high four steals to go along with 13 points against the Eagles Friday and was second on the team that night with five rebounds. Two of her steals came during the fourth quarter.

Honorable mention this week goes to Stephen F. Austin senior guard Taylor Schippers, Central Arkansas junior guard Maggie Proffitt and Lamar senior guard JaMeisha Edwards. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women’s basketball sports information directors.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
