Southeastern Louisiana 5, Bradley 2
HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women’s tennis team opened its five-match home stand with a 5-2 victory over Bradley Monday night at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The Lions improved to 6-2 overall with the victory. Bradley picked up wins on the No. 2 and 3 singles courts, but fell to 8-6 overall with the loss.
 
Southeastern switched up its doubles pairings for the first time this spring, netting very positive results. At No. 1, Lion junior Renee Villarreal and freshman Lucia Bustamante rolled past Alexa Brandt and Ashley Thai, 8-1. SLU closed out the point on the No. 3 court, as sophomore Margaux Kaltenbacher and freshman Dany Raygadas defeated the Bradley duo of Elizabeth Przystawski and Cassia Wojtalik, 8-0.
 
Villarreal gave the Lions a 2-0 lead on the No. 1 court, improving to 8-0 this spring in singles play. Improving to 47-4 in her career as a Lion, Villarreal overwhelmed Brandt, 6-4, 6-0.
 
Raygadas (6-1) extended her singles winning streak to five matches with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wojtalik on the No. 5 court. At No. 6, SLU freshman Madina Vorotnikova (6-1) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Przystawski to match Raygadas with her fifth consecutive singles victory.
 
Closing out the scoring for the Lions was Kaltenbacher. At No. 4, she outlasted Thai, 7-5, 6-4, to improve to 3-4 this spring.
 
Southeastern will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting Southeastern Missouri at 8 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
