Wildcat Women Fall at Nationally Ranked Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - Abilene Christian recorded a couple of close sets but couldn't claim any victories in its 4-0 loss at 36th-ranked Texas Tuesday at Whitaker Fields. It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools in women's tennis.
ACU lost the doubles point with losses coming at the No. 2 and 3 positions; however, the No. 1 doubles team of senior Brittney Reed and Kaysie Hermsdorf was locked in a 5-5 tie with Breaunna Addison and Lina Padegimaite when it was suspended.
The No. 3 match also was close as freshmen Lucile Pothier and Carli Knezevich only lost by two points, 6-4, to Neda Koprcina and Ratnika Batra.
In singles, the Wildcats lost three straight to the Longhorns by scores of 6-1, 6-2; 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2. But when the match was clinched, Hermsdorf was leading her second set vs. Koprcina at No. 3, 3-2, and sophomore Erin Walker led Ryann Foster, 2-1, at No. 2.
The Wildcats' busy week continues Friday for a Dallas-based doubleheader vs. Dallas Baptist (9 a.m.) and SMU (3 p.m.). They will then play home matches Saturday and Sunday vs. Sam Houston State and Lamar with both duals starting at 11:44 a.m.
