SFA’s Floyd Named Southland Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior guard Demetrious Floyd has been named the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league office announced Monday.
Floyd became the second Lumberjack to reach the 30-point plateau in a game this season when he scored a career-high 32 points in the 82-58 win at New Orleans. He single-handedly outscored the Privateers in the second half 21-17 while establishing a career-high in field goals made (11) and tying a career-best with six made 3-pointers. The senior from St. Louis, Mo. (McCluer H.S.), followed that performance up with 17 points in SFA’s 76-64 win over Sam Houston State. In two conference wins for the Lumberjacks, Floyd averaged 24.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and a steal.
Honorable mention this week goes to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi sophomore guard Ehab Amin, Southeastern Louisiana senior guard JaMichael Hawkins and Central Arkansas sophomore guard Jordan Howard.
Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
