New Orleans’ Hill Named Southland Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – New Orleans senior forward Kevin Hill has been named the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league office announced Monday.
Hill came off the bench to average a double-double in two wins for the Privateers with 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds to go along with two assists and a steal. In UNO’s 94-83 win over Central Arkansas, the senior from Westwego, La. (John Ehret H.S.), scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down a season-best 14 rebounds in only 27 minutes of work. He followed that performance up with 15 points and six rebounds in the Privateers’ 76-64 win over McNeese State. Hill now sits in ninth place in the UNO’s record books with 626 career rebounds.
Honorable mention this week goes to Northwestern State junior guard Zeek Woodley, Stephen F. Austin senior guard/forward Thomas Walkup and Houston Baptist junior forward Colter Lasher.
Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
