Dunbar, King Earn Men’s Track and Field Weekly Awards
Southland Conference
FRISCO, Texas – Lamar senior Alex Dunbar was named the Southland Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Southeastern Louisiana sophomore Devin King earned Southland Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Alex Dunbar, Lamar
Dunbar’s placed third in the 5K at the Meyo Invitational. His time of 14:14.64 ranks 25th in the nation and first in the Southland Conference. The Barningham, England (St. Mary’s University), native beat his indoor personal best by over two seconds. His mark was more than 15 seconds better than the next runner in the Southland Conference rankings.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Devin King, Southeastern Louisiana
King broke the school record in the pole vault for the third time this season after clearing 17-09.25 in helping the Lions to the team victory at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on Sunday. The Kentwood, La. (Jewel Sumner H.S.), native’s mark is tied for the eighth best in the country and is the best in the Southland this season. He had set the previous school mark of 17-09 at the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational on Jan. 16.
