Hackett, Lord Earn Women’s Track and Field Weekly Awards

FRISCO, Texas – Abilene Christian junior Alexandria Hackett was named the Southland Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Sam Houston State sophomore Courtney Lord earned the Southland Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Alexandria Hackett, Abilene Christian
Hackett finished sixth overall in a highly-competitive 5K in Seattle. Her personal record of 16:10.65 is ranked eighth nationally and first in the Southland by over two minutes. The Cranston, R.I. (West Cranston H.S.), native shattered the ACU school record by 17 seconds. She came back one day later to set a new personal record in the 3K and now leads the Southland Conference by 24 seconds.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Courtney Lord, Sam Houston State
Lord downed 21 competitors in the pentathlon at the Jayhawk Classic winning the high jump (5-7.25) while taking third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.21) and second in the long jump (17-10.75). The Buda, Texas (Hays Consolidated), native’s converted pentathlon score ranks fourth in school history and moves her up to No. 50 nationally and No. 1 in the Southland Conference.
