Waring, Casper Earn Women’s Track and Field Weekly Awards

FRISCO, Texas – UIW senior Jasmine Waring was named the Southland Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while McNeese State senior Nicole Casper earned the Southland Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Wednesday.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Jasmine Waring, UIW
Waring was awarded the Kansas Relay’s most valuable player after runner-up performances in the high jump (5-7.25), 200-meter dash (23.85), and the 4x100 (46.15). The San Antonio, Texas (Randolph H.S.) native set a school record in the 200 meters and is ranked fourth in the Southland. She remains the conference leader in the high jump.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Nicole Casper, McNeese State
The senior pole vaulter broke her own school record at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, La., by clearing 13-10 to earn fourth place. The mark moves the Buna, Texas (Buna H.S.), native up to rank 15th nationally, 8th regionally, and continues to rank second in the Southland.
