Nicholls’ Harris Claims Southland Player of the Week Honors

FRISCO, Texas
– Nicholls guard DeAndre Harris is the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, presented by UniversalCoin.com. The Conference made the announcement Monday.
 
Harris claims the award for the second time this season after winning the honor in week one.
 
The senior from Milwaukee scored a league-leading 42 points in the Colonels’ conference opening 94-84 win over UIW on Saturday.  Harris dropped 26 points in the first half of his conference debut and went 15 for 21 from the line en route to becoming the first Nicholls to score 40 points since 2010.
 
Saturday’s output came after Harris had a 35-point performance in Nicholls’ 88-64 victory over Spring Hill last Thursday.
 
The 6-foot, 3-inch Harris averaged 38.5 points on 52.3 percent shooting in the Colonels’ two victories.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, and is not permitted to vote for his or her own student-athlete. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
