Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Sharad Mackey, Central Arkansas
The senior out of Dover, Del. helped the Bears to a first-place finish out of 22 teams at the Emory CrossPlex Invitational with a program-record 21.81 in the 200-meter run. In the 60-meter dash, Mackey ran a 6.97 – the second-best time in Central Arkansas history.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Hunter Key, Stephen F. Austin
Key won his first heptathlon after two years of collegiate competition. The Garrison, Texas native finished in the top three for four of the events, with second place finishes in the 60-meter spring and the 60-meter hurdles. Key bested his season record from last year in the long jump by four inches with a 20-08.5-foot jump. He also came within one one-hundredth of a second from setting a new personal record for his 60-meter hurdles.
Honorable Mention: Eric Moore, Central Arkansas
Central Arkansas next heads north to Lawrence, Kan. for the Jayhawk Classic on Thursday, Jan. 26 to Friday, Jan. 27. The Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks will take part in the Houston Invitational in Houston, Texas on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.
