FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls’ center Liam Thomas is the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, presented by
UniversalCoin.com. The Conference made the announcement Monday.
Thomas recorded a triple-double Thursday at UIW, tallying 14 points, pulling down 13 rebounds and blocking 10 shots in the 77-68 win.
On Saturday, Thomas put the hurt on rival Southeastern Louisiana, scoring 11 points to go along with eight rebounds and five more blocks to fuel the 77-71 victory.
Overall, Thomas averaged 11 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 7.5 blocks for the week, while shooting 67 percent from the field.
Thomas, a 7-footer from Sydney, Australia, leads the nation in blocks with 4.03 per game and total blocks with 117. Nicholls is seventh in the NCAA in blocks (as a team), averaging six per contest.
The Colonels are currently eighth in league standings entering the final week of the regular season. The top eight teams will participate in the Southland Conference Tournament, set for March 8-12, in Katy, Texas.
