FRISCO, Texas – Incarnate Word’s Morgan Taylor is the Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland Players of the Week are presented by MidSouth Bank.

Taylor dropped 20-plus points in each of the Cardinals’ (4-3) two wins this past week over Texas Lutheran and North Dakota State. UIW hosts Northern Colorado on Wednesday night before heading to SIU-Edwardsville for a Sunday afternoon contest.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week – Morgan Taylor – Fr. – Guard – Chicago, Ill.

Freshman Morgan Taylor poured in a season-high 23 points and six rebounds and recorded his first career block in a 70-59 win over Texas Lutheran last Monday. He bested his career-high point total with 24 and hit the game-winning layup with 26 seconds remaining to defeat North Dakota State 80-78 at the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase. Taylor shot nearly 52 percent (15-for-29) from beyond the arc and converted on 29 of 35 attempts from the charity stripe (.829).
