MONTGOMERY, Texas
- Houston Baptist is heading back to the NCAA Championships after claiming its second consecutive Southland title at Woodforest Golf Club in Montgomery, Texas.

Kaity Cummings of HBU shot one-under in the final round to win the individual title at the 2018 Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship. After bogeying the third hole to go one-over early, Cummings fired a birdie on No. 8 then sunk a birdie to open up the back nine before adding another one at the par 5, 531-yard 12th hole. She led the Huskies to a nine-stroke victory over Central Arkansas.

UCA had the best championship round, carding a 298, but it was not enough to make up the difference against HBU who carried a 12-stroke lead into Wednesday. The Bears placed two in the top five as Fernanda Lira earned third and Emma Svensson took fourth individually.

HBU's Lexi Brooks followed up her under-par performance from a day ago with a three-over round today. She finished second-best for the Huskies for the tournament, good for fifth place individually with Lamar's Elodie Chapelet. The Huskies' Alisa Chong, who led after the first and second round, ended eighth and seven strokes back from Cummings.

HBU led the field in birdies with 29 for the three rounds. The Huskies performed best on the par 4s, averaging a 4.35 score for the 54 holes.
Sam Houston State's Hannah Alberto climbed three spots on the individual leaderboard as she was the only player today to shoot for par. Her 222 total score gave the sophomore her second straight second place finish. The Bearkats finished third as a team.

Lamar placed fourth while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished behind at fifth. UIW earned sixth, and McNeese and Stephen F. Austin rounded out the field.

HBU will find out its NCAA Championships destination April 25 at 4:30 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel.
