FRISCO, Texas – Seventeen Southland Conference football standouts from this past season begin their quest this weekend to play fulltime in the National Football League. Each NFL team will host a rookie minicamp either this weekend or next.

Nine former Southland student-athletes are undrafted free agents who have signed with an NFL team, while eight will participate in minicamp.

The list of former student-athletes is headlined by 2018 Associated Press All-Americans Jazz Ferguson from Northwestern State, BJ Blunt from McNeese, and Derick Roberson from Sam Houston State. Ferguson, an underclassman, is the reigning Southland Offensive Player of the year, while Blunt is the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
