NSU’s Jordan Todd Captures Seasons First Women’s Basketball Weekly Award

FRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State’s Jordan Todd is the Southland Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland weekly honors are presented by GEICO.

In her first two games as a Lady Demon, Todd registered consecutive double-digit scoring performances for NSU. The junior recorded 15 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and an assist in the Lady Demons’ season opener against Centenary Tuesday. Todd’s 15 points helped NSU to its highest point production in a season-opening game in nearly 30 years. Her 15 rebounds were part of a 63-rebound team effort, the most in a game in 10 years. She concluded the week with a 15-point, 14-rebound game against Texas A&M-Texarkana Saturday. Northwestern State jumps back into action Wednesday, Nov. 17, on the road against Grambling.

In her Lady Demon debut, the Southern Idaho transfer helped carry NSU to a pair of season-opening wins. She recorded double-doubles in each game with 15 points and 15 rebounds against Centenary Tuesday, followed by a 15-point, 14-rebound preformance against Texas A&M-Texarkana Saturday.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
