FRISCO, Texas – New Orleans’ Derek St. Hilaire is the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.  Weekly awards are presented by GEICO.

The graduate guard averaged 21.6 points per game to help the Privateers to a 2-1 record last week, extending his streak of games with at least 20 points to five.  St. Hilaire shot 50 percent from the field (23-of-46), 43.8 percent from three (7-of-16) and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line across the three contests.

The Privateers (3-4) picked up wins over Central Arkansas (90-63) and VMI (79-71) in the UNO Classic but dropped a 68-66 decision to Presbyterian. UNO returns to the court against Texas A&M at 6 p.m. CT Tuesday before visiting Louisiana at 7 p.m. Friday.
