FRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State’s Candice Parramore is the Southland Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland weekly honors are presented by GEICO.

Parramore led the Lady Demons to a 78-71 win in overtime at Mississippi Valley State last week. The senior guard scored a career-high 23 points, went 11-for-11 from the foul line and shot 67 percent from the field. It was her 10-point overtime effort, including consecutive fast break layups in the final minute of the game, that sealed NSU’s second-straight road win. It is the first time since the 2007-08 season the Lady Demons have won consecutive non-conference road games.

The award marks the first weekly honor of Parramore’s career. Northwestern State continues its road show Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m. against Louisiana Monroe.
