Bryanna Washington Tabbed Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls’ Bryanna Washington is the Southland Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland weekly honors are presented by GEICO.
Washington poured in a game-high 21 points in the Colonels’ game at Memphis last week. The Irving, Texas, native recorded her fifth-straight outing in double figures, shooting 50 percent from the field and adding five rebounds, two steals and a block. Washington moved up to sixth in the Southland in field goal percentage and is now averaging 11.4 points per game.
This award marks the first weekly honor of Washington’s career. Nicholls returns to action Wednesday, Dec. 29, hosting Alabama A&M at 2 p.m.

Washington reached double figures for the fifth-straight outing, helping Nicholls hang around before the Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter. The redshirt senior scored a game-high 21 points, shooting 50 percent from the field while adding five boards, two steals and a block.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
